Over the past several years we have grown and expanded our programs and services. In addition to several Albany locations, we now manage community sites in Cohoes, Berne, and Watervliet. We have community dining programs, manage senior centers, provide transportation and adult day services, offer health and fitness programs and counseling services. We deliver over 600 hot fresh meals through Meals on Wheels and Community Dining sites every day, and that number keeps growing. With people now living active lives well into their 80s and aging Baby Boomers which represent nearly double the population of the generation that preceded it seeking new and different services, people in our community are looking to use more than ever. So, this year we found ourselves at a point where we had simply outgrown our name, and after reviewing who we are and what we do we have emerged as LifePath.

Although many of our programs are funded by City, County, and State grants, the dollars are limited, so they don’t cover everything and can’t always keep up with our growing programs. As an independent not-for-profit organization, not a government agency, LifePath uses a unique collaboration of public and private funding to cover the costs of our programs. We are continually seeking funding from new grants and private sources so we can continue to grow our programs and develop new and innovative offerings to meet the needs of this growing population.

We feel the greatest benefit of our programs is how they improve the health and wellbeing of the people they serve. Depression and malnutrition are big problems as people age and they are often related. Delivering hot meals to people’s homes, offering classes and activities, adult day and community dining programs get people to eat well and provides outlets for people to be more active and socialize with others. This can have a significant positive impact on their health and ultimately their healthcare costs.

We’re excited about our future and we will continue to work to support the aging and their caregivers in the communities we serve. If you would like to learn more about our programs and services visit our website www.lifepathny.org.
