Volunteer Opportunities

Come VOLUNTEER with us! 

LifePath utilizes volunteers on a daily basis and many of our programs are dependent on volunteer efforts. Our Agency finds great joy in the dedication that our volunteers have put forth, and would welcome the ability to share the experience with you!

A completed Volunteer Application is required for all LifePath volunteer positions.  Anyone interested in volunteering will need to the complete the application and volunteer placement will be determined by LifePath staff based on need and eligibility.  Click here for a PDF of the volunteer application, or contact our Volunteer Coordinator to have an application mailed to you:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Administrative

Support our team by providing basic administrative skills which may include helping with filing, assembling mailings, and/or entering data into the computer.

Time Commitment/Hours: Flexible.  Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm.
Location: Albany County

 

Blog Writers / Social Media Contributors

Be part of the creative content volunteer team who help to create professionally-written content for newsletters, social media feeds, websites and more.

Time Commitment/Hours: Flexible.
Location: From home or LifePath office

 

Community Dining

Volunteer at one of our community dining locations by being a host/hostess, kitchen support staff, or serving our diners.

Time Commitment / Hours: Minimum of 1 hour.  Hours vary based on location, traditionally Monday - Friday during Lunch and/or Dinner.
Location: Albany, Berne, Cohoes, and Watervliet (click here for specific locations)

 

Events / Fundraisers

Large fundraisers can be complex with many moving parts!  Pre, Day of, and Post-Event help is always welcome.  Tasks may include auction procurement, invitation mailing, event check in, live/silent auction support, clean up, and event follow up.

Health Insurance Information and Counseling Assistance Program (HIICAP)

Individuals who are willing to be trained to educate seniors on the various health care products available to them. This position requires the volunteer to provide unbiased information, counseling, and assistance on Medicare options available to beneficiaries; training will be provided.

Individuals with a healthcare and/or education background would be well suited for this role.

Time Commitment/Hours: Flexible.  Medicare Open Enrollment runs from mid-October to early December and is peak time.

LifePath Living Centers

Our five Living Center provide an array of activities and services for older adults living in Albany County. Volunteers assist with answering phones, clerical support, greeting guests, leading activities, and helping with the upkeep of the Center.

Time Commitment/Hours:  Flexible.  Centers hours vary by location, generally Monday - Friday 9am - 2pm.

Meals on Wheels Drivers

Assist our team in delivering meals to our homebound neighbors, while also providing a well-check on the recipient.

Time Commitment / Hours: 2-3 hours required for meal delivery, Monday - Friday 9:30am -  12:30pm.  An additional hour (8:30am) could also be available to for assistance with meal packing.

Social Adult Day Programs

Between our two Adult Day Programs there are a variety of services a volunteer can provide.  Volunteers lead or co-lead activities that range from exercise classes, dance, craft, bingo, sport, music, stories, scrap-booking, and more!  Volunteers also assist with serving nutritious meals.

Time Commitment/Hours: Flexible. Monday - Friday during the hours of 10am - 3pm

  • Newgate - Bethany Reformed Church, 760 New Scotland Road, Albany, NY 12208

 

Telephone Reassurance

This program is designed to help older adults remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible by providing friendly, reassuring telephone calls.

Time Commitment/Hours: Flexible.  Weekly 15-minute (minimum) phone call.
